69 Commercial Hazardous Waste Facilities Receive Prestigious EI RCRA Environmental Compliance Award

Edina, MN - Environmental Information Limited announced the winners of its ninth annual EI RCRA Environmental Compliance Award on Wednesday, April 19. The award was established as a positive recognition to the environmental professionalism of a commercial hazardous waste facility. To qualify for the award, the facility must provide certification from its supervising regulatory agency that it did not have a RCRA violation throughout the calendar year 1999.

The mere fact that only 59 facilities received the EI RCRA Environmental Compliance Award out of the estimated 460 potential eligible facilities is evidence in itself of how difficult it is to complete a calendar year without a RCRA compliance violation.

"This award was created in 1991 to acknowledge the outstanding RCRA compliance efforts by commercial hazardous waste management facilities. RCRA regulations have complex and rigorous standards of performance. The fact that these facilities have gone an entire calendar year without a violation is a reflection of outstanding efforts by the facility’s management and staff," says EI’s President Cary Perket.
