In the early 1990s, Chartwell Information Publishers began collecting and publishing the results of surveys of gate rate charged at waste facilities. When The Envirobiz Group Inc. took over Chartwell operations in the fall of 2005, it was determined that survey effort needed to be enhanced to provide a more representative cross-section of gate rates across the United States. The Envirobiz Group Inc. now provides much more detailed examination of state wide and interstate gate rates and trends than anytime in its history; these reports are now provided in the Chartwell Solid Waste Digest.
There are times when more detailed market data is needed than trends in average and median gate rates provided in the Chartwell Solid Waste Digest; our Construction and Demolition Waste Market Reports help solid waste professionals and stakeholders with these more detail reports. These detailed reports range in geographic area from Chartwell’s “Radius Market Report” for intrastate markets to larger geographic areas involving multiple states (or even nationwide). The Envirobiz Group can customize the geographical area to meet most any customer’s needs with the United States.

The cost of this basic 100 mile MSW market radius report is $500 per report. The Hundred Mile Market Radius map is provided as a PDF file. The scale of the map can be order to be either wall poster size or smaller report scale. The data in the Microsoft Excel Worksheet file is matched to the Map with a facility map number. The worksheet can be sorted (by the customer) through the Microsoft Excel software’s sorting functions.

Chartwell began collecting gate rate prices in the early 1990s. The scope of this effort, in terms of number of facilities surveyed, decreased over the years. In 2006, The Envirobiz Group reinvigorated the Chartwell Survey effort throughout the United States.
Many of the landfills which are now annually surveyed had been irregularly surveyed in the past.
Consequently, providing historical gate rate changes requires some professional analysis and qualification of the underlying gate rate survey data. In many cases, landfills do not annually change their prices; consequently pricing trends are best analyzed over a multiyear period. Customers with a need to examine historical pricing trends should contact us to discuss their specific needs.
